Frequently Asked Questions
What does compression therapy feel like?
Normatec compression therapy is similar to a massage. You'll feel rhythmic squeezing on your legs as it works to relax sore muscles. The pressure level is adjustable to match your individual needs and comfort level.
How does it work?
The Normatec boots fill with air to compress your legs, and then releases. The compression/release pattern is repeated in controlled intervals. The compression helps force stagnant fluid or swelling away from the area and allows fresh blood flow into the area. Repeated use helps speed up the recovery process.
Is compression therapy right for me?
Compression therapy is a great recovery tool for anyone that is active.
You should not use compression therapy if you have one of the following: acute pulmonary edema, acute thrombophlebitis, acute congestive cardiac failure, acute infections, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), episodes of pulmonary embolism, wounds, lesions, or tumors at or near the site of application, where increased venous and lymphatic return is undesirable, or bone fractures or dislocations at or near the site of application.
What should I wear?
Comfortable yet tight-fitting clothes are best. If your clothes are too loose, as the device compresses, the fabric can bunch and be uncomfortable.
How often can I use Normatec?
Normatec is safe to use daily. Sessions are 20 minutes long, including setup. Pick up the power supply from the Front Desk when you are ready to begin a session.
Does Normatec help with injuries?
In some cases, Normatec can help speed up the healing process by reducing inflammation and improving blood flow. Speak to one of our licensed physiotherapists to learn more about how we can help improve injuries and pain.
Are Normatec sessions covered by insurance?
Normatec sessions are not covered by insurance plans.
